Week of September 14, 2003
We are now entering the last days of the initial part of our travels;
however, our trip would not have been complete without a stop at my
step-sister's home in St. George, Utah. The family clan is Gil and Lisa
and children Patty, Leslie, Billy and Shane, all related by Lisa being daughter of my
step-father - are you confused yet?
We wanted to take advantage of relaxing and unwinding with the family, but as
anyone with a family knows, relaxing with kids around is rare. We were
hoisted off to the local school's "Buccaneer Bazaar" and to a soccer game and we loved every single
minute. As Gerson said (with a huge grin on his face), there was a lot of
little people around.

We left St. George with the intention of heading straight home; however, we
were forced to alter our direction and drag ourselves over to Gastao and
Sandra's for a farewell bar-b-que (Brazilian style) for several mothers that
came to visit from Brazil. Needless to say, just the mention of the
possibility of a bar-b-que and Gerson was steering a course directly to their
home. What a terrific way to end our journey - incredible food, good drink
and especially, great laughter.
We arrived home on September 20, 2003, exactly two months from whence we
departed. As I write the end to this chapter, we have already completed
our circuit of all the consulates for our Latin America visas and we are tying
up loose ends for the next leg of our journey. We cannot wait to be back
on the road...so keep an eye on this site and look for updates within the next
month.
We are warmed and comforted by thoughts of our friends and family every day.
Goodbye for now
